When Odysseus and his men return to Circe's island, Circe tells Odysseus all the possible dangerous things that can happen. During his journey, there is a chance he might hear beautiful noises, but those noises come from the Sirens who eat the men. She tells him to give his crewmen beeswax as earplugs, so they would not hear a thing, but if Odysseus wishes to hear them to tell his men to tie him up tightly.
Circe warns him about two other dangers. Scylla, who uses a newborn's cry, to lure men. Scylla eats one man per ship. She has twelve legs and six monstrous heads. | Now, Circe tells Odysseus about Charybdis. Charybdis, comes out three times from dusk to dawn, and creates a gigantic whirlpool. If his ship were to get caught in her, Poseiden would not be one to save him. |
